Alto Garda Introduces Free Cardboard Recycling Service for Businesses
New Cardboard Recycling Service
Bins overflowing with cardboard boxes and scattered packaging: a spectacle that was certainly not very dignified, especially in recent summers, to which we had unfortunately become accustomed.
However, for the past three days, the Comprensorio Alto Garda e Ledro has launched a service that will turn those true eyesores into just a distant memory: the separate collection of cardboard.
Details of the Collection
“Separated from what?” you might ask, since a cardboard collection service has existed for years.
It’s called separated because, since last Monday, some vehicles of Galaservice, the company subcontracted for the service, are conducting a collection exclusively targeting commercial activities, artisanal businesses, and public establishments that can benefit from a so-called “window display” collection.
This type of service had already been implemented in Arco, but for the first time it will cover the entire district territory.
This means that the district will collect cardboard and paper directly from the companies’ premises — as long as owners make an explicit request — preventing the material from taking up valuable space in bins, which have always been reserved for residential users.
Features and Procedures of the Collection
This service — another very important detail — does not impose additional charges on users, and for this reason, a high participation is expected.
The days and times for collection have already been communicated to merchants, shopkeepers, and artisans, who will only need to fold the paper material and stack it in a readily accessible location for the collection vehicle.
The initial results are encouraging and give hope for the success of the initiative.
Design of the Service in Historic Areas
The Comprensorio has also considered the historic center of Riva and its particularly narrow alleyways: in this case, collection has been entrusted to an Ape (three-wheeled delivery vehicle) or a vehicle with similar capabilities.
It remains clear, then, that those who do not want to take advantage of this opportunity can drop off their materials at the district landfill (hours 8-12 and 13.30-16) or at the equipped area with a compactor in the municipal yard near the Arco cemetery, for which a final opening time will soon be established.
