A “ghost kennel” has been discovered in Bussolengo, where the Guardia di Finanza of Verona found approximately 40 dogs living in deplorable hygienic and sanitary conditions. The situation came to light following the inspection of a motorist with an emaciated dog, who did not have any documentation for the animal. The officers then accompanied the individual to their residence, where they uncovered severe violations: the dogs were confined in cramped cages, lacking access to clean water, and were being fed contaminated food. In addition to the dogs, there were also poultry in poor condition in the garden.
Following the intervention of the veterinarian from USLL9 of Verona, who mandated a health quarantine, the inspections were expanded with the cooperation of the relevant authorities. The owner of the property has been reported for animal cruelty, while all the dogs have been entrusted to organizations and private citizens who will take care of their rehabilitation. Local authorities have declared the property uninhabitable and ordered the owner to restore the premises to their original state.
