Casting director Anna Pennella, hailing from Roè Volciano, is in the running for the prestigious David di Donatello award thanks to her nomination for the film «Familia», directed by Francesco Costabile. The awards ceremony will take place on May 7 and marks a significant recognition for the profession of casting director, a role that has finally been valued by the Italian Academy of Cinema. Born in 1990 and a graduate of the Dams program in Rome, Anna has already contributed to the success of works such as «Mio fratello rincorre i dinosauri» and «Educazione fisica», collaborating with renowned directors.
«Familia», which tells the complex autobiographical story of Luigi Celeste, has received an additional seven nominations, including for lead actors such as Barbara Ronchi and Francesco Gheghi. Pennella emphasized the importance of her nomination, attributing it to the collaboration with a talented team. The casting director stated: «It was a complex job… we sought out the actors who portrayed the protagonists as children». With new projects on the horizon, including «La valle dei sorrisi» and «L’estranea», Anna Pennella continues to scout for talent in the Italian film landscape.
