A 55-year-old man from Arco has been sentenced for hanging his brother’s dog, an act of unprecedented animal cruelty that dates back to June 2019. The five-year-old English setter named Cindy was found dead at the bridge over the Leno River in the Arlanch area, after being tied with a nylon rope. This violent act stemmed from a family feud and resulted in the man’s conviction to two years and four months in prison, along with a fine of 1,400 euros, a decision upheld by the Court of Appeals in Trento for charges of theft and aggravated killing with cruelty.
The Enpa (National Animal Protection Agency) was also involved in this case, joining the dog’s owner as a civil party and seeking damages of 20,000 euros. This case has reignited attention on the need for justice for animals, highlighting the issue of violence against them and the social demand for exemplary penalties for those who commit such inhumane acts.
