Arco Casino Revival Efforts Gain Momentum Amid Competition
Roulette at the Casino are turning into a mirage because the municipal administration isn’t taking action. To avoid missing out on the profitable opportunity of the green tables, a group of people has formed a committee. The goals? To shake the municipal immobility and initiate autonomous actions to revive Arco’s flagging candidacy, and bring the casino back to Viale delle Palme.
The promotional committee and its initiatives
The promoter is Gianni Righetti, the eclectic hairdresser-sailor from via Segantini. “Setting up a gaming house at the casino is a very pressing issue for my fellow citizens,” – observes Righetti, who has already successfully engaged the local population on matters of general interest, such as free parking in the Foro Boario. “I realized this when I, along with acquaintances, decided to challenge the inexplicable passivity of the Veronesi administration.”
For now, I have limited myself to forming a committee of about ten people, but based on the support I’ve received in just a few hours, participation is expected to grow significantly. Other cities competing to host the lucrative green tables are eager and are starting initiatives to demonstrate their capability.
The initiatives of competing cities
A few weeks ago, Gardone held a trial run, acting as Arco’s rival, by setting up a gaming room for a weekend in the prestigious Villa Alba. The result was, of course, very flattering. The other regional contenders, Cavalese and Merano, have been effectively promoting their bids for some time, while Arco remains silent.
The municipality doesn’t even bother to respond to the “bluffs” – hopefully empty ones – from neighboring towns. The latest comes from a representative of Torbole, who recently suggested turning the Colonia Pavese into a gaming house.
The future of the project
The first step for the roulette committee will be a meeting with Mayor Veronesi to finally determine what concrete actions are planned. They haven’t even applied for the Bingo concession. I understand that within the majority, some members view gaming as an unwelcome distraction, and even the Democrats are quite lukewarm about it.
But, for Arco’s future, “the game is worth the candle.”
