Arcore Road Repairs: €500M for Mountain Access and Maintenance
There are about thirty kilometers of roads connecting the Arcore plain to the various surrounding mountain locations: Troiana, Braile, Carobbi, S. Giovanni al Monte, and Gorghi, with some others running at altitude in the Monte Velo area.
The Pedrotti company will repair all thirty-plus kilometers of these roads, as mandated by Vice Mayor Sergio Prandi, who has taken to heart a situation that has been in a state of precariousness for many decades.
The intervention will be significant, as demonstrated by the half-billion euros allocated (80% funded by the Province) for the execution of the work, but also respectful of the mountain environment.
In fact, only the already paved sections will be resurfaced, while the others will remain as they are — dirt or gravel paths, unchanged for many years.
To prevent the roads from falling back into poor condition quickly, Sergio Prandi has also arranged for a maintenance company to handle routine upkeep.
With an annual budget of about sixty million euros, periodic cleaning of wooden drainage channels and trimming of roadside edges will be ensured.
Starting next year, the municipal administration will also bear the cost of maintaining the numerous forest roads, which until now have been the responsibility of the Province.
These are not roads for regular transit, as they are service routes used for periodic forestry or mountain area work (access is blocked by stanches), but they also require effort and funding.
