Arnaldo Pomodoro Monument Marked in Desenzano on Centenary of His Birth

On the centenary of Arnaldo Pomodoro’s birth and a year after his death, attention is returning to a key work in Desenzano del Garda: the bronze “Monumento ai caduti di tutte le guerre,” a pyramid fountain located between Via Roma and the lakeside promenade. The monument is being highlighted for its role in commemorating the fallen, with its message now also linked to peace.

Pomodoro was born in Morciano di Romagna in 1926 and died in Milan in 2025. In Milan, Gallerie d’Italia Intesa Sanpaolo and the Arnaldo Pomodoro Foundation are hosting the exhibition “Arnaldo Pomodoro: una vita,” running until 18 October 2026, featuring more than 40 works from the collections of Intesa Sanpaolo and the Foundation. The show traces decades of artistic research, from the mid-1950s beginnings to more recent experiments.

The anniversary is also seen as an opportunity to strengthen the monument’s public profile in Desenzano and to support efforts for its preservation, maintenance, and potential new collaborations.
