A check by the State Police in Riva del Garda led to the arrest of a 55-year-old man from the Brescia area, accused of drug trafficking. The individual was stopped while in a rental car; his nervous demeanor and evasive answers prompted the officers to conduct a more thorough search. He was subsequently taken to the police station where, with the assistance of the canine unit from the Guardia di Finanza in Trento, 160 grams of heroin were found hidden in the spare tire compartment and about 3 grams of cocaine concealed in a sock.
The investigation did not stop at the arrest: at the 55-year-old’s residence, bottles of methadone, a precision scale, and materials for packaging the drugs were discovered. All items were seized, and the man was arrested on charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking and is currently in custody awaiting judicial proceedings.
