A 37-year-old man from Caprino Veronese was arrested on Saturday, September 13, by the Carabinieri for physical and verbal abuse against his mother, a 68-year-old woman with whom he lived. The intervention of law enforcement was prompted by a call from the victim’s over ninety-year-old grandmother, who sought help regarding the ongoing domestic violence situation. After ensuring the woman’s safety, the Carabinieri launched an investigation, revealing a pattern of abuse that had persisted for some time.
The Preliminary Investigative Judge issued a custody order after the man refused the application of an electronic bracelet, opting instead to face detention. The measure also includes a prohibition on approaching his mother within 500 meters. Currently, the 37-year-old is held at the “Montorio” Correctional Facility in Verona, at the disposal of the Judicial Authority.
