Arrest in Castelnuovo del Garda: assault on carabinieri and public disturbance
A 35-year-old man of Ghanaian descent was in Castelnuovo del Garda after harassing customers at a supermarket and assaulting the responding officers. The incident occurred on the afternoon of Sunday, September 7, when the military was called to the “Famila” supermarket to restore order. Upon arrival, they found the man in an evident state of agitation, who reacted violently by striking one of the Carabinieri, resulting in injuries that required treatment at the Pederzoli Hospital in Peschiera del Garda. During the assault, the individual also damaged the officers’ vehicle.
After restraining him, the Carabinieri took the 35-year-old to the Carabinieri Company in Peschiera del Garda. The Public Prosecutor’s Office in Verona was notified, and the individual was arrested in the act for resisting a public official and causing bodily harm, as well as for damaging the vehicle. Following the standard procedures, he was placed under house arrest and appeared before the judge of the Verona court on Monday morning, who validated the arrest and imposed precautionary measures until the hearing scheduled for November 2025.
