A deliberate fire ravaged the Boschetti di Mezzo area in Montichiari late yesterday afternoon, Thursday, July 24. The blaze was sparked by wood and abandoned waste along the road between via Mantova and via Cavour. Mayor Marco Togni documented the incident on social media, expressing his dismay over the vandalistic act that damaged the electrical cables supplying two local businesses. “Thanks to whoever set fire to the waste and wood,” the mayor commented ironically, highlighting the repercussions of the fire.
The prompt response from the firefighters of Castiglione delle Stiviere helped contain the blaze before it could spread further. However, the damage to the electrical cables resulted in power outages for several local businesses, necessitating the intervention of Enel with a generator to restore electricity. Authorities are now investigating the origin of the fire to prevent similar incidents in the future.
