Artisti del Lago Summer Art Event Promotes Culture and Tourism on Garda
With «Artisti del lago», the traditional summer event of solo and group painting exhibitions returns.
Beyond its obvious tourist appeal, the event, under the patronage of the Assessorato comunale alla cultura (Municipal Department of Culture), aims to keep alive a well-established tradition, as well as to promote a positive impact on the economic and cultural image of the entire tourist sector on the western shore of Garda.
The series of events, curated and organized by Piero Spinucci, features about ten artists and spans an entire summer season, starting Saturday, June 10, and ending in mid-October.
Early starts and leading artists
The festival kicks off with Franco Corsini, who is present from June 10 to 20 in the former library hall, showcasing works that “capture the reality of the Garda landscape and objects enveloped in an unreal, veiled atmosphere that does not hide but reveals what lies beyond surface appearances, too clearly defined by everyday reality.”
Following in late June is the personal exhibition of Giuliano Cristofori, while from June 30 to July 10, Enrica Farà will present her work, exploring the quiet meetings of small yet significant values, more innate to a sensibility that, with essential but expertly modulated touches, can grasp the marvelous uniqueness of ordinary things.
From July 10 to 20, it’s Ugo Frigo’s turn, followed by Carlo Pellegrini, who exhibits from July 20 to 30. Meanwhile, the Lacisian artist Alessandro Minio presents during the first decade of August “with poetry of transparent, illuminated spaces; of certain small corners of the world, of places and forums from history where it’s still possible to live.”
Exhibitions in August and September
Then, as part of the «Artisti del lago» exhibition, Giulia Rizzotti will present from August 9 to 19, reproducing masterpieces of Italian art not with a painter’s brush but with the needle of an old sewing machine — a rare phenomenon in the contemporary art scene.
Closing August is Mimo Sarchia-none, a nationally renowned engraver and aquafortist from Montesilvano, who has been a guest of the Lacisian art festival for several years. In September (August 29–September 8), the spotlight is on Luciano Canzan, noted for “perfect drawing and extraordinary intensity of color, beauty, and the truth of objects.”
After a brief break, the fifth edition of the Garda and Verona publishing review, curated by the Associazione culturale Francesco Fontana, will take place from September 8 to 18.
Returning to painting, from September 18 to 28, will be Franco Santi and Maria Stellin, a married couple “linked through life experiences but at the same time so different in perceiving signs through the artful use of drawing and color.”
The event concludes with the personal exhibition of Paola Pellegrini, scheduled from September 28 to October 9.
