Atesina Plans New Depot Amid City Council Debate and Funding Boost

As those aware begin to leak information, the letter in which the president of Atesina, Ceola, informs the Rivana municipal administration that the sale of the land at the bus station serving the roundabout on the bypass “can only be implemented after acquiring suitable land for the construction of the new depot” appears increasingly less understandable.

During the debate held in the city council, following clarifying questions from numerous councilors, Lorenzo Prati recalled that the issue of the depot is as old as the station itself, since that parking area, located right in the middle of a large residential area, is certainly not the most suitable place to start up nearly fifty buses every morning, which warm up their engines and emit gases under the windows of residents before departing.

Funding and transfer of the depot

However, Mayor Malossini announced that the provincial Transport Department has even allocated 2.5 billion in contributions to Atesina so that the company can purchase the area for the new depot, as planned in the municipal master plan, i.e., in front of the former Pietro Cella barracks, south of the street connecting via Ardaro with the bypass, near the former Comai farm.

It is therefore clear that relocating the depot is a separate issue which, in fact, could receive an additional boost from the construction of the roundabout to help resolve the problems that have persisted for over ten years.
