The recent wave of bad weather has caused flooding in Lazise, on the shores of Lake Garda. Despite increased water discharges in the past 24 hours, the lake level has only risen by one and a half centimeters. This increase follows a more significant growth in the previous days, when the level had risen by six centimeters, equivalent to about 20 million cubic meters of water.

In collaboration with the Garda Community, the AIPo has increased water discharges from the lake through the Salionze regulating building. The flow has been increased from 100 to 130 cubic meters per second in an attempt to better manage the water level. Currently, the lake is at +137.5 centimeters above the hydrographic zero of Peschiera, and the reservoir is 102% full.

The critical situation mainly affects the Veronese shore of Lake Garda. In Lazise, for example, the lakefront promenades have been submerged. Pierlucio Ceresa, the Secretary-General of the Garda Community, reassured that the weather conditions are expected to improve in the coming days: “Fortunately, the bad weather should cease; the forecasts for the next two to three days are encouraging.” The goal now is to maintain the current outflows to stabilize the lake level around 130 centimeters.

Local authorities continue to closely monitor the situation to prevent further disruptions and damage along the shores of Lake Garda.
