Lake Garda was hit by strong winds and bad weather on the afternoon of August 7, prompting numerous rescue operations by the Coast Guard, Fire Brigade, and State Police. Initial efforts focused on the Trentino shore, where sailors and sports enthusiasts in distress were rescued by volunteers in Riva del Garda. The operational center of the Coast Guard in Salò received many calls regarding incidents in Manerba, Garda, Desenzano, and Sirmione.
To address the critical situation, four naval units were deployed: two from the Coast Guard and two from the Fire Brigade. The most complex operations included the rescue of a pleasure craft with two tourists who had launched red flares to signal for help near Desenzano. Other rescues involved five boaters adrift and a kitesurfer in trouble over two kilometers from the shore, all of whom were safely transferred to local ports despite the adverse weather conditions.
