Baldo Community Approves Restoration of Mountain Roads in Lake Garda

The Giunta della Comunità Montana del Baldo has approved two projects related to the restoration of the silvo-pastoral road «Colonei-Due Pozze» in the municipalities of Caprino and San Zeno di Montagna, as well as the construction of the silvo-pastoral road «Baito Scale-Valvaccara» north of Prada, in the municipality of Brenzone.

The first project involves a road that will follow the existing path of an aqueduct network serving mountain huts, extending 3,820 meters, connecting from 1,367 meters at Malga Colonei di Caprino on the eastern side of Bald (where the Ime-Valfredda-Pozza road terminates) to Malga Colonei di Pesina, Malga Zocchi, and the locality of Due Pozze at 1,264 meters on the western side, ending east of Malga Pralungo.

The route has a maximum incline of 10-15 percent, in some sections even higher, with an estimated expenditure of 520 million euros.

The second road starts from Baito Scale at 1,157 meters — connecting to the road linking Prada with Val Trovai — and extends for 2,461 meters to Malga Pra del Becco and Malga Valvaccara, at 1,527 meters.

This road will have a width of three meters, a maximum gradient of 20 percent, and an estimated cost of 320 million euros.
