Bardolino Bolsters Surveillance to Fight Illegal Dumping With Fines and Camera Traps

Since late March, Bardolino’s new video surveillance system has coincided with an uptick in penalties for waste dumping, with 19 fines issued so far this year; the latest was in Piazza Combattimento, Calmasino. Eight mobile camera traps have been deployed in areas indicated by residents or not covered by fixed cameras.

Mayor Daniele Bertasi thanked the local police for their constant work. Ecology Councillor Simone Corradini said the mobile cameras enable rapid action in sensitive zones and reminded of the eco-island stations for proper disposal. Police Commander Francesco De Santis explained that the integration of video surveillance with a license plate reading system allows tracing vehicles used for dumping and applying sanctions, with controls continuing across the municipality.
