A new bike sharing service has been launched in Bardolino, in collaboration with the municipalities of Garda and Costermano, to promote sustainable mobility in the area. The initiative, involving mayors Bendinelli, Bertasi, and Passarini, includes the introduction of 75 electric bicycles provided by the company Lime, which operates in over 285 cities worldwide. The service will initially operate on a trial basis, allowing users to access the bikes through a dedicated app that enables them to locate and easily reserve available bicycles.
Mayor Bertasi emphasized that Bardolino has opted to exclude the use of electric scooters from the agreement, preferring a gradual introduction of bicycles that are more suited to the local urban context. Furthermore, some local businesses, particularly wineries, have already expressed interest in the project, recognizing its potential to facilitate more sustainable access to their facilities. The ultimate goal is to gradually reduce car usage in favor of cycling, thereby contributing to a more respectful enjoyment of the area’s natural and cultural heritage.
