An innovative initiative for green tourism was recently unveiled in Bardolino, where Federalberghi Garda Veneto and Garda Green Club launched an app dedicated to measuring the environmental impact of hotels. The project, named Punto Zero, enables accommodation facilities to monitor crucial parameters such as CO2 emissions, energy consumption, and waste management. The event took place at the Palace Hotel San Pietro on July 18, with the participation of Mayor Daniele Bertasi and other local officials, highlighting the importance of sustainability in the tourism sector.
The primary objective of Punto Zero is to provide a simple tool for assessing the environmental impact of tourism businesses, allowing for targeted interventions to reduce their ecological footprint. According to Davide Fumaneri from Garda Green Club, it takes just eight minutes a day to gather significant data that can guide business decisions towards more responsible and sustainable management. The hope is that by the end of 2025, a preliminary data collection can be achieved to plan effective interventions and ensure a greener future for tourism on the lake.
