Bardolino Targets Culture 2029 With Federalberghi

The Municipality of Bardolino has announced its support for Federalberghi Garda Veneto’s bid to have Lake Garda named Italian Capital of Culture 2029, a move presented as a key step to strengthen the region’s cultural programme. The partnership, announced on July 29, 2026, brings together the association’s experience with the municipality and the project promoters, with attention on hospitality quality, sustainability and local development.

Federalberghi Garda Veneto said it is drawing on years of initiatives developed with public institutions, health bodies and third-sector organisations. These include efforts to recover surplus food for families in need, accessibility projects for accommodation facilities, environmental sustainability campaigns, actions focused on guest and worker safety, and health-prevention activities—elements it now plans to contribute to the 2029 candidacy.

Mayor Daniele Bertasi said the backing reflects a shared vision, while Federalberghi director Mattia Boschelli stressed that associations’ role goes beyond representing businesses to include responsibility toward the territory, people and the environment. Boschelli added that the sponsorship is intended to strengthen cooperation across Lake Garda communities and highlight their local strengths on a national and European level, calling the process itself—more than the outcome—a chance for dialogue and growth.
