Bardolino Wine Conference Highlights Resveratrol Benefits and Quality
The volume, containing the proceedings of the conference «Wine Quality, Bardolino Quality», held last May, will be presented tomorrow at 8:30 pm in Calmasino, at the Gruppo italiano vini headquarters.
Focus on Resveratrol and the Benefits of Bardolino
It is well known that wine, consumed in moderation, is beneficial. However, particular attention is given to resveratrol, which is present both in the grape berry and in red wine.
This natural substance, possessing anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antiaggregant, anticancer properties, and the ability to help prevent certain cardiovascular diseases, is found in «generally high levels» in Bardolino wine.
This is especially supported by research conducted by dottor Fulvio Mattivi, an expert on the subject and one of the speakers at the Bardolino conference. Under the coordination of professor Luciano Bonuzzi, the conference comprehensively addressed the topic of Bardolino’s quality, spanning sensory, medical-health, regulatory, and historical-literary aspects.
The Role of Bardolino in the Mediterranean Diet
It emerged that Bardolino, a moderately alcoholic red wine, is an ideal beverage to complement the Mediterranean diet. As highlighted by Professor Bonuzzi, Bardolino is an expression of the successful union between territory and traditional grape varieties, presenting itself as a refined and sober beverage, suitable for daily consumption.
On the other hand, there is also the possibility of producing high-quality wines by reducing vine yield, as was done in July with the «green harvest» in some vineyards, to enhance aroma and flavor.
Events and Awards at the Conference
The event, promoted by the Consorzio tutela, the Comune, and the Associazione Poliedro, will also feature the awarding of gold medals to the winners of the X° concorso spumanti doc veronesi and the tasting of the awarded wines paired with gastronomic delights.
Attendees, with the support of the Banca Popolare di Verona, will include Emilio Pedron, CEO of Giv, and Luciano Bonuzzi, volume coordinator.
