Battle Resumes in Desenzano Committee as Calls Grow for Transparency on Hospital
A citizens’ committee has reopened a file covering nearly two years of activity and is raising concerns about the Desenzano hospital, transparency and public participation. Since 16 August 2024, the group “Let’s Keep the Desenzano Hospital on Montecroce” has requested documents and meetings, backed by more than 8,000 people who signed a petition, and says it had to appeal to the official responsible for anti-corruption and transparency to obtain acts it claims were initially denied.
The committee engaged all 22 mayors in “Ambito 11”: 11 met with the group, 11 did not respond, and one mayor publicly said he would not meet the representatives. It also contacted the President of the Mayors’ Assembly with more than ten certified email (PEC) messages, while the annual meeting reportedly required by the regulation did not take place; the Regional Ombudsman (Difensore Civico Regionale) was involved. The committee further sought participation in the administrative process under Article 9 of Law 241/1990, without receiving feedback, and says the reopened records include PEC exchanges, requests for access to documents, appeals and meeting minutes involving the Province, Lombardy Region and ASST Garda.
