On the occasion of the Day of Remembrance, which is celebrated to honor the victims of the COVID-19 pandemic, the municipality of Bergamo has ordered flags to be flown at half-mast. This day, established by the Chamber of Deputies on July 23, 2020, and by the Senate of the Republic on March 17, 2021, serves as a moment for collective reflection on the individuals who lost their lives due to the virus. The choice of date is symbolic: it coincides with the day in 2020 when Italian Army trucks began to remove hundreds of coffins from the monumental cemetery, an image that has profoundly marked collective memory and global public opinion.
