At the close of Safety Expo 2026 – Sicurezza sul Lavoro, held in Bergamo on 16 and 17 September, Regione Lombardia presented a regional platform to track workplace health and safety courses and the related training certificates. The event drew more than 11,000 attendees at the Fiera di Bergamo and brought together institutions, companies, associations, professionals and operators involved in prevention.
The initiative is introduced by regional law 10 February 2026, No. 4, which paves the way for an integrated system to control and monitor training delivered across the region. The measure also establishes a regional register of training providers and is designed to allow each certificate to be followed from course delivery through to its use, involving both training bodies and employers that directly organise training for workers, appointed safety representatives and managers. The platform will be interoperable with the national Sistema informativo per l’inclusione sociale e lavorativa, as well as with training providers and businesses.
Speaking at the event, regional councillor Ivan Rota said the law addresses worker health and directly affects company operations, arguing that training and related tools should be viewed as an investment rather than a cost. Rota also highlighted the challenges of a changing labour market, including multilingual and culturally diverse workforces across contracts and subcontracting, and called for training paths that take these differences into account. Nicoletta Cornaggia, head of the Prevenzione sanitaria da rischi ambientali, climatici e lavorativi unit within Regione Lombardia’s Welfare directorate, said the platform will help create a database of courses and track issued certificates, enabling faster verification of certificate authenticity; she added that it will initially enter a pilot phase to test strengths and any critical issues, with interest also reported beyond Lombardy.
