Beware Carabinieri Scams in Garda Area: How to Protect Yourself

They impersonate carabinieri when making telephone contact with hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines of the Carabinieri Corps.

These are not military personnel but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after collecting the money, disappear.
