Beware of Phone Scams Pretending to Be Carabinieri in Garda

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

They are not actual members of the armed forces, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those with no relation to law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by someone who,

after obtaining the money, disappears.
