They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, offering subscriptions to magazines associated with the armed forces.

They are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance authorities, the police, firefighters, or municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the authentic Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
