Recently, Navigazione Laghi completed an experimental campaign on biodiesel, yielding encouraging results for sustainable navigation in the public lake transport sector. This initiative, aligned with the directives of Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Matteo Salvini, examined the use of HVOlution, a renewable biodiesel produced by Eni, tested in its pure form without mixing with traditional diesel. The data collected demonstrated significant environmental benefits: a 6.3% reduction in CO₂ emissions and a 24.2% decrease in particulate matter (PM), thereby contributing to improved air quality. The experiment confirmed that HVO is not only compatible with existing diesel engines but also offers performance equivalent to that of fossil diesel. Pietro Marrapodi, Government Manager of Navigazione Laghi, emphasized how this solution can support decarbonization and environmental sustainability goals without compromising service efficiency. Thus, the trial represents a concrete step towards an effective and environmentally friendly energy transition in lake navigation. Italian Version
