Body Recovered in Lake Como After 21-Year-Old Missing Since Earlier
The body of 21-year-old Rayan Jeirom Baylen, a resident of Bergamo, was found on August 18 at a depth of 357 meters in Lake Como, after four days of searches in the waters off Lenno in the Tremezzina area. The location was identified by Garda volunteers using a remotely operated underwater vehicle (ROV) in the area indicated by the Operational Unit of the Lakes of the Milan Coast Guard.
Search operations were coordinated by the Coast Guard and involved the Fire Brigade, divers, the State Police, and the Guardia di Finanza, with activities paused only due to weather conditions. The ROV—acquired by Garda volunteers through a fundraising initiative in memory of Greta Nedrotti and Umberto Garzarella—enabled the team to locate the body beyond 350 meters and proceed with the recovery.
