Borgo Crew Wins Third Consecutive Palio at Garda Summer Festival

The Borgo has done a hat-trick. The crew from the only “extra mura” district of the town, located at the foot of the Rocca, has won the Palio for the third consecutive year. The quartet in yellow-green jerseys, composed of Massimo Favetta, Pierfrancesco Maffezzoli, Silvano Dall’Agnola, and Roberto Avanzi, demonstrated an almost perfect blend of power and elegance.

They had already recorded the best time in the elimination heats. In the final, then, the rowers from the Borgo improved even further, executing turnabouts with textbook precision. All this happened literally in front of a wall of spectators.

The Palio of the Assumption

The Palio of the Assumption continues to be the most popular event of the Garda summer: just ask those who patiently lined up in their cars at midnight after the fireworks display. In the eliminations, Borgo had defeated a surprising Piazza (the crew composed of Matteo Pincini, Raffaele and Andrea Monese, and Fabio Daducci) and the Corsetto.
