Brescia and mountain tourism: boom in winter hotel bookings
In anticipation of the Immaculate Conception holiday, a significant influx of tourists is expected, with 13.9 million Italians traveling, most of whom will choose to stay within the country. According to the president of Federalberghi Brescia, Alessandro Fantini, the outlook for mountain tourism is promising thanks to recent snowfall that has opened ski slopes and boosted hotel bookings. Currently, about 20% of accommodations by the lakes are operational, while the mountain sector continues to lead preferences with an average occupancy rate of 77%. Lakeside destinations are also benefiting from last-minute bookings and favorable weather forecasts. Barbara Quaresmini, president of Confesercenti Lombardia Orientale, emphasized that interest in the Brescia mountains is heightened by the upcoming Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina 2026. These events could lead to a significant increase in tourist flows to the Brescia province and further enhance the region’s attractiveness for visitors seeking authentic and sustainable experiences.
