The feasibility study for the Garda Metro was presented in Brescia at Palazzo Broletto, an ambitious project that plans a route of 22 km from the capital to Villanuova sul Clisi. The initiative, promoted by various local entities and coordinated by the University of Brescia, aims to develop a sustainable public transport system capable of reducing traffic and improving accessibility between the city and the lake. It is estimated that in its first year, the service could attract up to 10 million passengers, thus contributing to more environmentally friendly mobility.
The route will include 11 stations, passing through the municipalities of Brescia, Gavardo, Mazzano, Nuvolera, Nuvolento, Paitone, Prevalle, Rezzato, Roè Volciano, and Villanuova sul Clisi. To realize this project, approximately 722 million euros will be required, with expected economic benefits surpassing costs in all analyzed scenarios. The goal is to provide a concrete alternative to the use of private cars through modern electric traction technologies and a protected route to ensure competitive travel times.
