Brescia Implements Green Space and Infrastructure Projects Amid District Protests
The neighborhoods and districts complain and request attention from the municipal administration; the city council responds through the public works assessor, Innocente Sereni. One of the most active districts is the 1º Maggio neighborhood, with the councilor Silvio Zuccati. In this case, residents protested over the unfinished green space in the district, which is becoming one of the most densely populated areas.
“Yes, there have been delays,” admits Sereni. “These were mainly due to the harsh weather that persisted throughout much of winter and spring. We will now proceed swiftly, as the work has been entrusted in recent days.”
Regarding protests about the lack of parking spaces, municipal offices are checking the non-compliance of land developers, while on commercial licenses, Sereni clarifies that without requests from private individuals, the administration cannot do much.
Another petition comes from residents of Fontane Est, a new residential area along the road to Grole. Complaints concerned the neglect of a strip of land near the provincial road, featuring a drainage ditch, rats, and trash.
Projects for Green Areas and Interventions in the Territory
Again, the assessor brings good news: “Among the green spaces to be improved, in addition to the 1º Maggio area, we have included the land opposite the Fire Brigade headquarters, on Via Solferino, serving Fontane Est.” An equipped green space with grass, playgrounds, and benches is soon to be established.
There is also the district of San Vigilio, which has requested the drainage channels to be repaired. “In this case as well, we will give a concrete and quick response to the population,” comments Sereni. “The project for the drainage channels, including road widening, is in planning and funded with the latest budget revision.”
An agreement has also been reached between the administration and the Staffolo neighborhood for modifications to the new bus stop: Via Pisacane will feature a sidewalk on the built-up side.
