Brescia Labor Exploitation Ring Busted in Major Crackdown on Forced Labor
A major crackdown on labor exploitation and illegal immigration has led to the arrest of three Indian nationals and the issuance of house arrest and suspension orders by the Rovato Guardia di Finanza and Brescia Prosecutor’s Office. The investigation uncovered a scheme operating from 2018 to 2024 involving 12 individuals and multiple legal entities, resulting in the illegal entry of 1,364 foreigners into Italy and illicit profits exceeding €19.2 million, which have been seized.
The organization, utilizing three Italian companies and one Indian company, allegedly issued false employment and residence documents to secure residence permits, employed exploited workers in Brescia, Cremona, Piacenza, Milan, and Lodi, and charged workers up to €13,800 for seasonal permits and €7,200 for permit conversions. They also issued over €18 million in fake invoices, with €3 million in VAT, and filed criminal charges against twelve legal representatives. The measures are ongoing, and suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
