Brescia Launches Smart Waste Collection Points in Key City Areas

Work has begun in Piazza Garibaldi to install an automatic collection point for selected municipal solid waste: a pit where the rotating apparatus with various containers will be lowered. Only the control tower will surface, where users can insert their personal magnetic card to open one of the five compartments: paper, glass, cans, plastic, and residual waste.

The same device will be installed outside Porta San Marco. One is already present in Piazza Catena. Registered residents of the historic center interested in the service will soon receive a leaflet from the municipality, which was previewed the other evening to city councilors.

Instructions and How to Use

These are the instructions for the use of the new collection point, which is currently experimental. The individual card will later enable billing based on the weight of waste deposited, rather than on square meters, as is currently the case.
