Brescia Provincial Police Launch Anti-Chelate Operations to Protect Animals in 2026
In 2026, the Brescia Provincial Police’s K9 unit continued its efforts to protect both wild and domestic animals through emergency interventions across the region. On January 5, agent Sole was involved in two cases: one in Gardone Val Trompia, where a suspicious bait was found and tested negative, and another in Anfo, following a social media report of a dog suspected to have been poisoned four days earlier. Authorities emphasize the importance of reporting suspected poisoning cases promptly to facilitate timely action and prevent further harm.
In 2025, agent Sole, one of Italy’s few highly specialized anti-venom dogs, carried out 13 interventions within Brescia and responded to additional calls in Bergamo, Mantova, and Sondrio. The dog also participated in educational initiatives in collaboration with local health authorities to raise awareness about animal protection and responsible pet ownership.
