Brescia Union Proposes Tenders to Revitalize Montichiari Airport
The Italian General Confederation of Labour (Cgil), the Italian Confederation of Trade Unions (Cisl), and the Italian Labour Union (Uil) made public yesterday the letter sent on March 23 to the Ministry of Transport (and for information to the Guarantee Authority for Competition and the Market, to the President of the Province of Brescia Alberto Cavalli, to the Mayor of Brescia Paolo Corsini, and to the President of the Chamber of Commerce Franco Bettoni) to request that the concession for Montichiari Airport be put out to tender.
Initiative Presentation
The initiative was presented yesterday morning at the city office located at Via Zadei 64, by representatives Massimo Bresciani (Cgil), Aldo Menini (Cisl), Angelo Andreoli (Filt-Cgil), Claudio Lonati (Fit-Cisl), Eugenio Bertoglio (Uilt-Uil). “We believe in the strategic importance of D’Annunzio Airport and want to revitalize it,” they explained.
Montichiari could become a source of good employment opportunities.” The proposal involves putting the concession out to tender, with the reimbursement of Catullo Spa, the Province, and the Chamber of Commerce (49 billion euros), based on four criteria: a new operator reflecting Brescia’s reality; adequate investments; pre-emption rights on Ghedi Airport when it is demilitarized; and the concession fee set according to legal measures.
The current partners had already submitted a redevelopment plan for the airport in recent days.
