Brescia Wineries Join Cantine Aperte Event with Tastings and Art Workshops
Next Sunday, May 27th, the event organized by the Movimento Turismo del Vino Lombardo “Cantine Aperte” will return, reaching its 9th edition this year. From 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, the Cantine Aperte event will take place. Created in 1993, this event saw an exceptional flow of visitors during the 2000 edition, with more than 44,000 people welcomed at the wineries across Lombardy, representing a 48% increase compared to the 1999 turnout. An appointment that, with each passing year, continues to achieve more successful results in terms of both public participation and participating wineries.
For this occasion, the number of wineries participating on the Brescia side of Lake Garda has slightly decreased compared to previous years; however, this absence should not be attributed to dissatisfaction or reconsideration, but solely to the fact that in Polpenazze, on this Sunday, the 52nd wine fair takes place. This event has been adopted by virtually all the wineries in the area.
Participating wineries and activities
In total, nine wineries are available to host visitors who want to spend a day, or a few hours, outdoors and in direct contact with nature. For the Garda Classico and San Martino della Battaglia areas, the following wineries have made their facilities available: Spia d’Italia in Lonato, La Guarda in Muscoline, La cantina di Colosio in Raffa di Puegnago, Le Giare in Bedizzole, and Bottarelli in Picedo di Polpenazze.
For the Lugana and Mantovani Historic Hills area, the following will be open to the public: Cà Lojera in Rovizza di Sirmione, Cantina Marangona, and Tenuta Roveglia in Pozzolengo, Az. Agr. Olivini, and V. Del Pilandro.
At the wineries, visitors will be able to combine wine tastings with sampling Provolone Valpadana cheese, a long-standing partner of the Cantine Aperte day, along with various events organized individually by each participating winery.
Events and artistic initiatives
In the Garda area, for example, at the Spia d’Italia winery in Lonato, organizers highlight an exhibition by artist Ilva Sorsoli titled “Art in Ceramic Decoration,” focusing on techniques such as faux marble, carving, and relief. The winery will feature tastings of classic Garda wines and will also offer the 1997 vintage of San Martino della Battaglia Liquoroso, paired with Sbrisolona Cake and almond cookies.
