The trial concerning Calcinatello has been updated, involving Petrit Gega, a 53-year-old Albanian accused of the murder of his fellow countryman, 33-year-old Alfonso Kola, which took place on May 31, 2023. During the hearing at the Court of Assizes in Brescia, key testimonies emerged, including that of Gega’s brother, who revealed previous incidents of domestic violence in Albania. The prosecution contested Gega’s defense, which claimed that the murder was influenced by hallucinations; instead, it is argued that the attack stemmed from a personal rivalry.
An important witness, an employee of the Papagal bar where the attack occurred, confirmed seeing Gega repeatedly stab Kola. Furthermore, it was revealed that in the days leading up to the murder, Gega had already exhibited aggressive behavior towards the victim. As the next hearings are scheduled for March 24 and April 17, Gega remains under psychiatric observation at the Monza prison.
