Cameo Cuts Food Waste by 17% in Desenzano for 2024

During the 2025 holiday season, Italy wasted approximately 500,000 tons of food, highlighting ongoing issues with food waste. A recent survey commissioned by Cameo and conducted by Nextplora found that 73% of respondents are willing to change habits to reduce waste, such as proper freezing, better storage, targeted shopping, and rescuing leftovers.

Cameo has been working toward waste reduction since 2019, aiming for a 25% decrease in production waste by 2026. In 2024, the company reported a 17% reduction in waste at its Desenzano facility compared to 2023, and since 2021, over 700,000 near-expiry products have been saved through collaboration with Too Good To Go. According to Federica Ferrari, Cameo’s ESG and PR executive, reducing waste requires a shift in perspective and more conscious daily choices.
