Cancellation of family events in Desenzano del Garda: the Mattoncini in Castello case

Recently, Desenzano del Garda has been at the center of a heated debate regarding the cancellation of significant family events, including the beloved “Mattoncini in Castello.” On Monday, November 17, councilors Stefano Terzi and Maria Vittoria Papa questioned Tourism Councillor Stefania Lorenzoni to seek clarification on the lack of autumn events that traditionally attract families and children. Specifically, in 2025, neither “Mattoncini in Castello” nor the Halloween event took place, both of which are historic occasions that help enliven the city during the less crowded months. Terzi described the situation as “unacceptable,” emphasizing that the cancellation of well-loved events occurs in a year when tourist resources are available. Papa also highlighted the need for ongoing and strategic planning to keep Desenzano vibrant throughout the year. Through their inquiry, the councilors aim to obtain information on the reasons for the cancellations and the administration’s future strategies to ensure events that engage families during the low season.
