Canyoning in Riva del Garda: Injured Tourist Recovered by Helicopter

A tourist was injured during a canyoning trip in the Albola stream canyon near Riva del Garda on Wednesday, 5 August, requiring an emergency rescue. The woman suffered an ankle trauma while the group was in the early part of the gorge, around the tenth rappel, and her companions alerted authorities at 12:50 via the EU emergency number 112.

The Central Emergency Operations Room activated Trentino’s Alpine and Speleological Rescue service, along with a specialized technical team for gorge rescues and a helicopter. After reaching a dry section of the canyon, rescuers immobilized the tourist and recovered her using a winch, before handing her over to medical staff and transferring her to Rovereto Hospital for checks and treatment.
