Caprino’s ‘Caprino nel Mondo’ Highlights Local and Regional Fair
“Caprino nel mondo” is the subtitle of the 247th edition of the Fiera montebaldina, which was officially inaugurated yesterday morning in the municipal hall of Palazzo Carlotti. It is a demonstration of the desire, a ticket from the Baldo, to showcase its reality beyond the local area, as evidenced by the presence of exhibitors from several towns within the province.
Three thousand square meters of exhibition space, with over 30 exhibitors. Agricultural machinery, trucks, and excavators are displayed in the courtyard of the elementary schools. Inside the building, there are stoves, wood-fired ovens, and household appliances, alongside exhibits of artistic ceramics, embroidery works created by local women, and a display on historic mountain huts, organized by Ctg with the sponsorship of the Montane Community of Baldo and the Municipality of Caprino.
Dario Testi, an apiarist from Pescantina, presents a display on the life of bees. Posters illustrate the honey production process. “The hive’s life is a little-known aspect for consumers of this product.” At Palazzo Carlotti, two exhibitions are featured: one philatelic, organized by the Baldo Collector Group in collaboration with German colleagues from the twinned town of Gau-Algheseim; the other a personal exhibition by Giuseppe Ferlenga, a young architect from Negrar, with a passion for sundials and solar sculptures.
Speeches by authorities and moments of inauguration
“Requests to exhibit exceeded expectations,” says Giuseppe Campagnari, the delegated councilor. “Next year, we hope to accommodate everyone. This is certainly a sign that the fair is gaining momentum.” This view is also shared by Mayor Maria Teresa Girardi. “The history of the fair is intertwined with that of the surrounding area, and its success clearly demonstrates this,” she stated.
“Unfortunately, our territory does not receive the support it needs to expand. Everyone claims to want to protect the mountains, but in practice, we do not see the tangible help we require.”
“The philosophy of this Provincial Administration is to stay as close as possible to the mayors to listen to their needs,” declared Provincial President Aleardo Merlin. “Not just formal promises but a substantive commitment that the Province intends to uphold.”
At the inauguration, present alongside Merlin were other provincial officials, mayors from most of the Municipalities of the Baldo Garda area, the president of the Chamber of Commerce Massimo Ferro, the president of the Asco Union Baldo Garda Fernando Morando; the two presidents of the Garda and Baldo Communities, respectively Adelio Zanelli and Cipriano Castellani, the provincial commander of the Carabinieri Gianfranco Scanu, Vittorio Mascagno, provincial officer of the State Forestry Corps, and Chlaus Hassemer, mayor of the twinned town of Gau-Algheseim.
