Carabinieri Impersonation Scams Targeting Garda Businesses and Residents

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda area, proposing subscriptions to magazines related to the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

after collecting the money, disappear without a trace.
