Carabinieri Impersonators Scam Hoteliers and Shops in Garda Region

They are impersonating Carabinieri when telephone contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, firefighters, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

wants money, and then disappears.
