Carabinieri Impersonators Target Garda Hoteliers with Fake Magazine Offers

The perpetrators pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

They are not military personnel but con artists who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or municipal police (Comune).

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately alert the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they ask for money, will disappear without a trace.
