Carabinieri Phone Scams Targeting Garda Regions: How to Recognize and Report

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda regions, proposing subscriptions to arm-related magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance department, police, fire brigade, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
