Carabinieri Scam Alerts: Recognize and Report Impersonation Fraud

Pretending to be Carabinieri by contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda regions by phone, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police force, fire brigade, or municipal police department.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they had money, would no longer appear.
