Carabinieri Scam Calls: Watch for Fake Police Impersonation

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant operators in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the Municipality police.

Recognizing Scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they demand money, disappear and stop appearing.
