Carabinieri Scam Warns Garda Business Owners to Stay Vigilant

Pretending to be Carabinieri, they contact hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the middle and upper Garda area by phone, offering magazine subscriptions from the Carabinieri.

They are not military personnel but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the Finance, Police, Fire Brigade, or Municipal Police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately alert the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after collecting the money, disappear.
